Get ready for a major Windows 10 October 2018 Update, rolling out on October 9, 2018. It provides many exciting new features and focuses on enhancing your current user experience. If you have Windows automatic updates enabled on your computer, all you need is to install when prompted. You will need to reboot your machine. Some of the notable changes the Windows 10 October 2018 Update brings are:
• An improved screenshot experience
• Updates for Windows Mixed Reality, including support for more AR-like experiences and the ability to use a headset without a monitor
• Refined Windows Update which uses machine learning to try to avoid its much-loathed tendency to force updates at inconvenient times
• Better search for finding settings within Windows 10
• Separation of font scaling settings from the rest of the interface’s scaling
• The rollout of the SwiftKey keyboard for touch, laying the groundwork for screens to replace keyboards
• Updates to Edge for managing auto-play audio, Windows Hello-based website logins, PDF handling and more
• With the new Your Phone app you get instant access to your Android phone’s photos and texts on your computer
• You can now see your top sites in the Jump List on the Windows taskbar or Start menu. Just right-click the Microsoft Edge icon to see a list of your most-visited sites and pin the ones that matter most to you
• Now you can separate words into syllables and highlight parts of speech, such as nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Along with highlighting parts of speech, you can now also change the color as well as turn on an indicator right over what you’ve highlighted, making it much easier to identify the part of speech.
• Game Bar enhancements including improved audio recording and system performance monitoring
• A notification telling you if an application is still using an external GPU when you try to detach it
