Question: When should I upgrade my existing machine as opposed to purchasing a new one?

If your computer needs more than one upgrade, chances are it would be better to replace the whole computer.  It’s okay to add memory or a larger hard drive, but anything more than that is probably not a good long term solution.  Often, buying a new computer is the most economical means of acquiring newer software.  You’ll also get a new warranty that, depending on your computer manufacturer, will give you up to three years of protection against the cost of replacing hardware that fails.
